From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team-the Guardians of the Galaxy, originally appearing in Marvel comics in 1969 but this version in the film is based of the comic book reboot in 2008. So it's pretty much the latest heroes to come out of Marvel's empire.
An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (played by "Parks And Recreation" actor Chris Pratt who lost 60 pounds for the lead role) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits-Rocket (Bradley Cooper), a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid (which is the most unlikely character ever played by Vin Diesel), the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.
When Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand-with the galaxy's fate in the balance.
This is one of the more hilarious super hero movies with almost a laugh a minute and already set up with a sequel in 2017. 3-D is great. The kids saw it with me and give it a 3.5 star review out of 4. I'll stick with a 3 because the script is weak in some places. For awhile, it's hard to figure out what exactly is going on. Good fight scenes between Chris and Zoe.
